Guide to Caring for Your Flowers 1. How to unwrap your Aviemore Flowers Aviemore Flowers only uses the best quality of flowers, which we import directly from their site of cultivation in Holland. The Flowers are then cleaned and arranged in either a bouquet or other floral arrangements by our skilled florists in Aviemore. We advise that your flowers may take up to 48 hours to fully bloom as we want to ensure that our customers receive the freshest quality of flowers possible. Due to the extreme freshness of your flowers they should last up to twice as long, so that you or your recipient can admire them for as long as possible. Of course, we use different types of flowers in our bouquets and arrangements and therefore some will bloom earlier than others. If you are putting the flowers in a vase or container of your own, then please be sure to remove any extra foliage first. If the foliage is left on and sits in the water then this will increase the amount of bacteria, and this will affect your flowers as the water will be infested. The gerbera, as beautiful as it is, is quite vulnerable to an overflowing amount of bacteria in the water. If you are placing your flowers into a vase of your own then Aviemore Florists suggest that you should always freshly cut your flowers before placing them into the container. This will allow the stems to take in a large amount of water, ensuring that your flowers stay fresh and vibrant. If the stems are dry then water will not reach your flowers, but as long as you cut them regularly you will ensure that they will not die of thirst. We advise that you cut the stems at an angle and at about 2cm above the end of the stem, thus ensuring long lasting freshness. Although it has been common practice to smash the end of the stems to increase water flow, we would advise against doing so as this may damage the vessels within the stems which will have an effect on the ability of your flowers to absorb water. 2. How to arrange and display your flowers Once your flowers have been unwrapped they can be prepared and placed in a gorgeous vase of your choosing. If you prefer, then we can arrange your flowers in a vase for you, provided by ourselves at little extra cost, to save you the time of arranging the flowers yourself. Make sure that the vase is cleaned and filled with lukewarm water, which will aid the flow of water through the stem of the flower. We also provide a care packet along with your flowers and a sachet of flower food to promote growth. It would be best to add the sachet of flower food to the vase before adding your flowers, and then ensure that the water does not reach the foliage as this will increase the rate at which the bacteria will form within the water. 3. Where to keep your Aviemore Flower Delivery Aviemore Flowers recommend that your flowers are kept at a temperature of 18-22 Celsius at most. In high temperature your flowers will wilt and colder temperatures can damage your flowers as well due to natural causes such as frost. Your flowers will last longer if you keep them in a cooler place, especially if they are kept away from direct sunlight and also any warm areas, such as radiators or near electrical appliances. If you leave your flowers somewhere warm then they will be damaged and become withered. Another variable which can have an effect on your flowers are ripening fruits, these produce small amounts of ethylene gas which can sometimes increase the growth rate of your flowers but will unfortunately stunt their life span. If you have any questions about your flowers or how to care for them, then please do not hesitate to contact one of expert florists by phone or email and we will be happy to help in any way that we can.
